Carving Pumpkins and Other Pictures

Happy Halloween everyone! We'll post some pictures later of Joey dressed up like a Monkey and trick or treating tonight, but here's our latest batch of pictures.

Earl putting on the passenger seat on the new Harley, and Joey reading him the instructions.

Earl snuck in and took a few of me and Joey reading in his favorite spot: his bean bag chair.

We got Earl a new gas grill for his birthday.

It has lights in the handle for nightime grilling. :-)

He's grilled on it almost every night since then. He suspects the reason I bought it for him is so that he's cooking dinner instead of me. That sounds a little sinister, I wouldn't do that. ;-) He he.

We went pumpkin picking for our first Roberts Family Pumpkin Carving:

Green Daddy gets dragged around by the shirt most days ^

These are the 2 that Joey picked all by himself (and because they were in good shape, we didn't even have to override him).

Paying for the pumpkins

Helping Daddy load up.

Checking out the insides ^

Joey had no problem digging in and helping Earl get out the gook.

The finished results ^ There not as fancy as my friend Christinas (See the Gregsons blog --> on my list), but I'm impressed. This is my first pumpkin carving I think (mom can correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't remember ever carving pumpkins as a kid). I technically only did a couple little spots and Earl did the rest, but I was THERE for moral support, so I was involved. ;-)

This is what Joey did to them while we were grilling outside one night

One of them lit up^

Earl was trying to work on the dishwasher, but had a little monkey on his back the whole time. Joey thought it was hilarious!
Updates on Joey: He's finally falling back into our routine, going to sleep easier and faster at night. For 2 nights now in a row he's stayed in his bed all night long and didn't wake up to come into our bed. He can count to 12 (but won't do it if you ask), he knows all his alphabet, but sometimes confuses M and W, and Z and N. He likes to test us now instead of us testing him "Mommy, what letter is this?" "Where's Green Daddy?" with a grin (he hides him to see if I know where he put him). "What's this?" and points to something in a book that I normally ask HIM what it is. He's cute.
When I told him yesterday that Halloween was coming and he could be a monkey, he said "Yes, and I put candy in my pumpkin!" (his trick or treat bag/bucket is a pumpkin). When I go to blow his nose, he tells me "Be easy." When I throw him over my head like he loves, he says "be careful." He is almost obsessed with playdough now. He's finally getting over his extreme pickiness with clothes (except the shoes: he won't ditch the green crocs and I cant' get him to wear socks for more than a few minutes). He knows his age and most all of his friends ages, and loves to show me on his fingers in sporadic moments throughout the day. (Joey's 2, Zoey's 5, Allie 3 birthday cake--for some reason, he remembers Allie Day's 3rd birthday party and can't say her age without including "birthday cake" with it).
Okay, that's all I can think of off the top of my head. Thanks for looking!
